Benefits of Oils
Beeswax – helps protect and repairs rough, dry or chapped skin because it has the ability to lock in moisture. Occlusive agents like beeswax, shea butter and stearic acid increase moisture levels in skin by providing a physical barrier to epidermal water loss. 100% Canadian Beeswax
Coconut Oil – is rich in medium-chain fatty acids, ferulic acid and catechins which have anti-oxidizing, anti-inflammatory and anti-itching properties.
Cocoa Butter – is high in fatty acids and antioxidants. It contains oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids, all of which nourish the skin.
Shea Butter – contains high concentrations of vitamin A and fatty acids which makes shea butter an ideal ingredient for softening skin. Shea butter also has anti-inflammatory and healing properties.
Castor Oil – is rich in ricinoleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid which acts as a humectant. Humectants draw moisture to the skin.
Cetyl Alcohol – is a natural fatty alcohol derived from coconut oil. Cetyl alcohol is not the same as denatured alcohol which dries your skin when it evaporates. Cetyl alcohol is very moisturizing to the skin. It helps to seal in the skin’s natural moisture levels, and gives a smooth, soft, feel to the the skin. We mix cetyl alcohol in with the beeswax to give our balms a unique occlusive barrier to prevent skin dehydration and to protect from exposure to wind, water and sun.
Rice Bran Oil – contains ferulic acid which is a very effective anti-oxidant similar to Vitamin E.
Sesame Oil – contains high amounts of Vitamin E.
